[Cyverse.Nappn] Sci Comm: Call for Zine contributions!!

Hi NAPPN members,

Are you interested in science communication and sharing your science with the public? NAPPN will be publishing a zine in collaboration with the Athens Science Observer <https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/athensscienceobserver.com/__;!!PvXuogZ4sRB2p-tU!VnQnMUxiaRIvdQ4QDsKNwjskvHo767GTabqyNIgiERkm3YFt1CBRGxwhvI4BRt_W$> for the NAPPN 2022 Conference goers and the public to highlight phenotyping work across all disciplines and applications. This zine will be distributed to hundreds of scientists at the conference, the Athens, GA local community, and be shared digitally to reach an even larger audience. We are looking for two types of early career (student & postdoc) volunteers: Writers and Illustrators.

For those interested in writing, we are open to ideas ("pitches") that highlight what you work on, how phenotyping is involved, why you think that's amazing, and why you think the public should hear about it! Those interested in writing will get expert advice on science communication from narrative building to editing, helping you turn your pitch into an impactful 750 word story. We are especially open to those in the engineering and data science realm who apply their skills to plant sciences. No format for a pitch.

For those interested in illustration, we are open to your own ideas ("pitches") on how illustration can highlight phenotyping, or will send you prompts based on writing samples. If you're an amateur or freelance science artist, add your social media handles and use this zine to showcase your work.
