[Cyverse.Nappn] Upcoming AG2PI Field Day: Genomic selection & phenotyping in dairy cattle

Dear NAPPN community member,

A major goal of the Agricultural Genome to Phenome Initiative (AG2PI) is to bring together crop and livestock scientists to work together in addressing shared challenges. As such, we encourage you to attend our upcoming field day and bring a mindset for finding commonalities where crop and livestock scientists might work together to solve similar problems.

Our next Field Day on Wednesday, January 20 from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM (Central Standard Time). This field day will focus on the implementation of genomic selection in dairy cattle, including genotyping, phenotyping, and data sharing, and the associated challenges. In the first half of the session, Dr. George Wiggans, technical advisor for Council on Dairy Cattle Breeding, will present on implementation of genomic selection in dairy cattle. In the second half, we will hear from Drs. Miel Hostens, Assistant Professor of Veterinary Medicine at University of Utrecht, and Joao Dorea, Assistant Professor of Precision Agriculture & Data Analytics at University of Wisconsin-Madison, on the future of phenotyping in dairy cattle and the associated challenges.
