It looks like your file is actually not formatted correctly. How did you validate it?
A couple things that will help you move forward more quickly.
1) Subscribe to and use the iplant-api-dev mailing list <http://mail.iplantcollaborative.org/mailman/listinfo/iplant-api-dev> there's a group of a dozen or so very active developers there
2) When you are sending an error or issue report include the file or data object (if its a string) you're sending, the actual curl command (if you're using curl scrubbed of your password, and (like you did) the resulting error message.
