[The Plant Phenome Journal]

Calling all Phenomicists!

The Plant Phenome Journal would like to invite submissions to the Affordable Phenomics Special section<https://acsess.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/journal/25782703/specialsectioncall>.
High-throughput phenotyping is an emerging area of plant and crop sciences, with potential impact to enhance productivity, functionality, and stress tolerance. Therefore, it has become ever more important for plant breeding and genetics research programs, of different resource and expertise levels, to adopt phenomics technologies. The growing open access efforts within the phenomics community is enabling initiatives to reduce the costs of sensors and sensor platforms. The goal of this special section is to provide visibility to diverse efforts in the development of affordable hardware and software aimed at enhancing the breadth and depth in which plants are phenotyped in experimental and applied settings.
The paper topics of interest for this issue include, but are not limited to, the following:

  *   Low-cost phenomics initiatives
  * Development of new sensor hardware for identifying plant and crop traits
  * Democratization of systems and analysis pipelines for measuring plant and crop traits
  * Design and conceptualization of sensors for detecting plant and crop traits
  * Identification of materials and specifications in the construction of sustainable information and communications technology (ICT) devices and sensors for plant phenotyping
Special Section Editors:

  *   Valerio Hoyos-Villegas, McGill University
  * Keshav Singh, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada
  * Sindhuja Sankaran, Washington State University
  * Sofia Sandhu, University of Glasgow
To submit, follow the link<https://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/tppj?utm_source=google&utm_medium=paidsearch&utm_campaign=R3MR425&utm_content=LifeSciences>.

For inquiries, feel free to contact the special section lead: Valerio Hoyos-Villegas (Valerio.hoyos-villegas at mcgill.ca<mailto:Valerio.hoyos-villegas at mcgill.ca>)

Submissions Open: March 2023
Submissions Deadline: July 2024

As a side note: The ASA, CSSA, and SSSA have eliminated excess author page fees for gold open access journals, including Agrosystems, Geosciences & Environment, The Plant Genome, The Plant Phenome Journal and Vadose Zone Journal, effective with manuscripts accepted and published after 31 December 2022. The Tri-societies have been committed to high quality publishing, peer review, and ethics for many years. Like many nonprofit Tri-society publications, our journals' revenue streams support the mission programs to lead and disseminate research in the agronomic, crop and soil sciences.

Cheers,
