Hello NAPPN colleagues,

The NAPPN will be hosting launch meetings for two Affinity Groups at our upcoming Annual Conference: Equity, Inclusivity and Diversity (EID) and Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (Ai/ML).

Equity, Inclusivity and Diversity (EID): https://www.plantphenotyping.org/eid

The North American Plant Phenotyping Network (NAPPN) is committed to transforming the plant phenotyping community into one that promotes social justice and freedom from oppression, including but not limited to, racism, sexism, ageism, and ableism. We support and encourage diversity among our members and in all staff, volunteers, and audiences, including full participation in programs, conferences, policy formulation, and decision-making. We are committed to equitable treatment and the elimination of discrimination in all its forms. During the group's workshop the EID group will be hosting invited talks and discussing the priorities and goals of the group for the next 12 months.
The EID Affinity Group will hold a workshop on Wednesday, February 23rd from 1:30-3:30pm EST.

Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (Ai/ML): https://www.plantphenotyping.org/groups/ai

This Affinity Group of the NAPPN is focused on the areas of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) as they apply to plant phenotyping studies and data. One of the main objectives of the group is to promote connections among plant scientists and AI/ML researchers, as well as creating educational avenues for studying plant phenotyping related challenges, algorithms, methods, and software frameworks. During the group's workshop the AI/ML group will be hosting 3 invited talks, along with discussing the mission, vision, and goals of the group for the next 12 months. Active NAPPN members are welcome to attend the workshop, and members who wish to be involved in the group can visit the group's webpage (link above).
The Ai/ML Affinity Group will hold a workshop on Thursday, February 24th from 1:30-3:30pm EST.
