On behalf of the NAPPN General Assembly, I’m honored to announce the newly-elected NAPPN Executive Board members:

2019-2021 Board Members:

  *   Plant Biology, Public Sector: Andrew Leakey (University of Illinois)
  *   Industry: Frank Dohleman (Climate Corp)

2020-2022 Board Members:

  *   Computational, Public Sector: Jennifer Clarke (University of Nebraska, Lincoln)
  *   Engineering, Public Sector: Amy Tabb (USDA-ARS)
  *   Industry: Tabare Abadie (Corteva)

These members will join the existing Board:

  *   Industry: David Ertl (Iowa Corn, 2018-2021)
  *   Engineering, Public Sector: Jian Jin (Purdue University, 2018-2020)
  *   Computational, Public Sector: Carolyn Lawrence-Dill (Iowa State University, 2018-2020, 2019 Chair)
  *   Industry: Charlie Messina (Corteva, 2018-2020)
  *   Plant Biology, Public Sector: Chris Topp (Donald Danforth Plant Science Center, 2018-2021)

The election had an excellent turnout, and each of the categories was close. More details of election results will be discussed at these community get-togethers:

Many thanks to all the nominees for their willingness to serve, and for their continuing leadership and engagement!

It has been a true honor to serve as Chair of this esteemed group of “mad scientists,” and I can’t wait to see the NAPPN grow and flourish in the future. The Board is in the capable hands of Carolyn and her team now, and although parting is bittersweet, I’ll be around for the long haul to help in any way I can (and let’s be honest, you can’t get rid of me that easily 😊).
